Happy International Women’s Day.

To all of the women in my life: I love you, and I’m so freaking proud of you.

Whether it’s still on the calendar or not, this day means a lot to me. Celebrating all of the amazing women in this world. From those names we know and recognize internationally, to those whose contributions only have local or familial impacts. It reminds me that as a woman small business owner, I walk on the shoulders of those before me who fought for rights and to be seen as equal, and it encourages me to continue that fight for my nieces and all of the women in the generations that follow mine.

I want to acknowledge that right now can be a scary and uncertain time to be alive, and especially as a woman. Being a woman right now can feel a lot like this picture: alone in the midst of turbulent water. But I also believe that we have the ability to reach out and lend each other a hand off of our isolated rocks and onto the shore. Together women have achieved great things, and we will continue to do so.

I encourage you to reach out and tell the women in your life you love them and are proud of them. Encourage them to chase their dreams, and lend them a hand when the world fights against them.

Together, we will make it through these times and continue to grow, evolve, and make a better future for the women who come after us.

World feeling upside down? Maybe it’s time to join it!

Join Liza Anderson and me for a 2.5-hr Inversion Workshop on Saturday, March 15 from 5:30-8:00pm at Hot Asana yoga studio. This workshop will focus on forearm stand, tripod headstand, and supported headstand. Come prepared to learn some basic anatomy and alignment when upside-down, strength and flexibility drills you can do at home, and ways to “sneak” drills and inversion work into your vinyasa classes.

This is an opportunity to get out of the vinyasa class environment and get a new perspective on inversions. You don’t need to be a superyogi to take this workshop, but as with any class a willingness to gain knowledge while being kind to yourself in the process is essential.
