A little fireplace facelift 🔥

The old surround was too wide and oversized for this room and the raised hearth was taking up valuable physical and visible space.

Our solution - change the proportions entirely and inlay a flush hearth with the new wood floors.

We designed a custom fabricated multi-step limestone surround that centers the raised fireplace and creates a beautiful focal point in the room.

One of us is returning from a euro trip with a lot of design inspiration ✨

Traveling around Tuscany and the Ligurian coast, the amount of architectural beauty in Italy is overwhelming! A few takeaways we feel the most inspired by - incredible natural building materials & arches!

From terracotta, natural tumbled travertine, clay bricks, marble, raw wood beams, plaster walls, hand carved wood doors to arched doorways & doors, ceilings, windows, and walls. Safe for say we’d love to take on an Italian countryside inspired project 😉

Fun tidbit! The last two photos are of building facades in Sestri Levante - a coastal city that was inspired by ornate Renaissance buildings. They couldn’t afford the same materials so they used paint as an illusion of color to achieve the same look of three-dimensional adornments 🎨 So cool!!
