🔨 FROM THE CLASSROOM TO THE JOB SITE 🔨
Congratulations to Wesley Foster and Corbin Brown, who recently participated in the Mid-America Carpenters Union Annual High School Signing Day.
After completing two years in the Building Trades program at Clinton Technical School, both students earned their Level 3 Career Connections Certificates and OSHA 10 certification, giving them a head start in their apprenticeship careers. Their training allows them to enter the program at a higher pay rate while reducing future training requirements.
However, earning the certifications was only part of the process. To be accepted into the apprenticeship program, students must first obtain a letter of intent from an approved contractor, a requirement that can often take months of outreach and communication.
On April 30, Corbin and Wesley attended the Union Star Trade Expo, where they connected with employers and each secured a letter of intent from Performance Contracting, Inc. (PCI) within an hour of arriving. By completing all program requirements before the deadline, they also received Milwaukee Tool starter kits that included a Packout box, tool bag, and essential hand tools for their first day on the job.
On May 28, both students officially started work in Olathe, Kansas, turning the skills they developed at Clinton Technical School into real-world career opportunities.
