New Life At Calvary

Pleased & Honored To Announce That We Have Another Son.

Last Saturday evening at approximately 10:45 pm, I received an email that left me stunned. My wife and I discovered, that we have another son. It turns out, that when I was 17, prior to my senior year in high school, I impregnated a young lady. For some reason the mother and her parents decided to keep the knowledge that I was the father of the child secret from me. That family secret lasted for almost fifty years. My wife and I had a range of emotions that night after the email as we adjusted to the possible future. For me, I knew I wanted to see my son and to hear his voice.
My son and I arranged via text to meet for the first time in Cleveland on the weekend of March 10th which is his birthday. We were both excited about the date. However, I felt that our first meeting would be somewhat of a sacred moment for us both filled with emotions and that we should plan to get together just the two of us, before introducing ourselves to the world as father and son. My son agreed. So tomorrow on March 2nd, at 12 noon, we will see each other face to face for the first time and begin to share the stories of our lives with each other. We will each drive two hours from opposite directions and meet ½ way between our respective cities. We have almost 50 years of catching up to do. Pray for us that our time together will be blessed. I am so excited, I can hardly wait for tomorrow to get here. This is one time I might be tempted to drive beyond the speed limit.
I am thankful for the wonderful job his mother and her parents did in raising him. He is an incredible man, and I consider it an honor and privilege that he’s giving me the chance to be called his father. Praise God from whom all blessings flow. I thank God that he allowed me to live long enough to discover this blessing in my life. I pray that I will live in such a way before him and with him, that I will earn his respect and hear him call me “Dad” before I go home to be with the Lord.
