Today we recognize Juneteenth, a day that commemorates the announcement of freedom to enslaved African Americans in Texas on June 19, 1865. It reminds us of the God-given value and dignity of every person and gives us an opportunity to thank God for the progress that has been made, while continuing to pray for unity, justice, and love among all people. As followers of Christ, we celebrate the truth that true freedom is found in Him. We pray that our community, our nation, and our church continue to reflect the love and hope found in Jesus Christ and we celebrate the joy that comes from unity in Him.
