I saw a preferred contractor list from a “local” insurance company today. It did not include one single Cleveland TN contractor. They were All from Chattanooga. Do they think a Chattanooga contractor is going to do a faster, better job from Chattanooga??!!!

Begs the question …. If your insurance company isn’t staying local then why are they your insurance company! Shop local in all aspects of life! Keep your tax dollars local and support businesses that do the same!

Impact Fees were defeated for the Fourth Time this Legislative Session yesterday in Nashville!

Thank you to all who made calls to your Representatives and helped fight this Government mandate. Our local State legislators would have all voted NO if it had made it out of Committee. True Conservatives are tasked with protecting our taxpayers. Impact fees would have destroyed the American dream of home ownership but would have lined the pockets of local governments!

As a County Commissioner it is my job to not only watch the local government but to also watch issues in Nashville that will hinder our local economy and taxpayer's wallet! This bill would have gutted the County Power's Relief Act and would have allowed Counties to impose whatever fee they chose on new construction homes. They could then put the fee in the General Budget instead of being designated to schools or roads. This would have been a tax increase without public notice and without 2/3rds vote by Commissioners. The taxpayer's protections of the Relief Act would have been destroyed. I will be watching this next year to see if it comes back again.
