Happy Historical Preservation Month
-
To close out Historic Preservation Month, we’re taking a moment to reflect on the remarkable architectural legacies we’ve had the privilege to engage with over the past year. Each project presents its own unique set of challenges and possibilities, and we approach them as careful stewards, honoring the character and craftsmanship of the past while thoughtfully shaping its place in the future.

Welcome to the DS Architecture Team, Stephen McHale!
-
Stephen will be joining us for the summer working as our new Marketing Intern. Stephen joins us from Norwalk, Ohio, and is a recent graduate from Kent State University. During his time at Kent State he studied Architectural Studies and minored in Graphic Design. The university presented him with many opportunities, including the chance to participate in Student Media, and travelling abroad to Florence, Italy. These opportunities allowed Stephen to build and strengthen his design skills. His interest in pursuing a career in the broad field of design stems from his love and appreciation for the process and variety of ways you can create something! Before DS Architecture, Stephen has worked as a dishwasher, cashier, architectural intern, and graphic designer.

FDIC Conference
-
Each year, FDIC International serves as one of the premier gathering points for the fire service industry, bringing together tens of thousands of firefighters, chiefs, manufacturers, trainers, and public safety professionals from across the world, where emerging technologies, operational strategies, and training philosophies are tested, discussed, and refined before they become mainstream practice.
-
For DS Architecture, participation in FDIC is an important part of our commitment to thought leadership within the public safety design industry. As designers of fire stations and public safety facilities, it is critical that we remain directly engaged with the evolving needs of the fire service, not from a distance, but at the ground level alongside the professionals using these tools and systems every day.
-
From apparatus advancements and turnout gear innovations to live fire training demonstrations, extrication technologies, decontamination strategies, and evolving operational workflows, the conference provides invaluable insight into the future direction of the industry. The fire service continues to evolve rapidly, and the built environment must evolve with it. By learning directly from industry-leading experts, manufacturers, trainers, and department leadership, we are better positioned to design facilities that support firefighter health and safety, operational efficiency, adaptability, and long-term resiliency.
-
At DS Architecture, we believe future-focused design begins with listening, learning, and leading through engagement. FDIC remains one of the most important places in the industry to do exactly that.
