🌱 From Potatoes to Personal Bests: How Amos Chirchir Is Growing Athletes and a Future in Sachang’wan !

In the misty highlands of Sachang’wan, Molo, 27-year-old Amos Kibet Chirchir is leading a quiet revolution, cultivating both runners and resilience.

After training at the Kenya Athletics Training Academy (KATA) in Thika, Amos returned home to launch KATA Sachang’wan Camp, where just eight athletes now train at 2,400m altitude — chasing their dreams on dirt roads overlooking the Menengai Crater.

** Weldon Kibet Lang’at cut his 10K to 30:16,
** Elizabeth Wambui improved her 5K from 19:00 → 17:35,
** while Amos continues competing himself with PBs of 30:51 (10K) and 14:32 (5K).

But this camp isn’t powered only by miles… it’s fueled by potatoes. 🥔
Following Bob Anderson’s vision of sustainability, Amos planted two acres of KATA potatoes to feed athletes and fund operations. Locals laughed at first; now, they’re following his lead.

Amos’s dream? To recruit more youth, build dorms, and create a center of excellence that keeps talent alive and kids off the streets.

“KATA Running Camps isn’t just about running — it’s about responsibility, teamwork, and building our own future,” Amos says.

From sweat to soil, Sachang’wan’s story is proof that champions can grow from the ground up.

Hello Kirotshe Foundation Family,
We want to wish goodluck to all the athletes participating in the 2025 D.R. Congo Athletics National Championships.

We will have 11 runners representing Kirotshe Foundation at this year's national championships.

2 of our Athletes, Mumbere Alpha and Mapenzi Kasole Silwa have been in Kinshasa for about 2 years now due to the ongoing conflicts in North Kivu.

3 athletes took a dangerous journey for almost a month to travel from North Kivu to Kinshasa to participate at these championships.

6 athletes are from Kimpolo village in Kinshasa who are part of a small pilot program of extending our club to Kinshasa.

Goodluck to you all!!!

We also want to congratulate Aleix Kambale for his victory this past weekend in France and wish him all the best at the French national championships this weekend!!!

We can't pass without remembering our champion Baraka Kaboy Andre who died in Kenya this year. Baraka was a force at the national championships and his absence will be felt. Gone but will never be forgotten. Rest in Peace Champion.
