In their daily lives, teenagers are infrequently asked to share their opinions and are seldom permitted to lead their peers. Over time, this can lead to youth who disengage from the adult world, do the bare minimum of what is expected, and have a low self-efficacy. Esperanza aims to change this disempowered status through structuring our after-school programs around a frame

General information
The HYLP (Hispanic Youth Leadership Program) serves Hispanic high school students by providing them leadership opportunities through community service, academic support, and life and employment skills via our after school program. On a daily basis, meals are provided and followed by a class discussion on the theme of the week. Program locations include Lincoln West, Max Hayes and James F. Rhodes high school.
These classes are held Monday through Thursday 2:30-4:30 pm.
