Happy Lunar New Year! 🎊 The SmartShape team wishes you all a prosperous year of the tiger 🐯

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our colleague, David Laituri. Dave served as Vice President, SmartShape Boston and was responsible for heading our studio in Boston and working with clients and prospects in the surrounding New England area. Dave was a dedicated team member of SmartShape, valued for his wise insights, exceptional creativity and talent.

Dave battled brain and lung cancer for the last year and a half, undergoing many surgeries and treatments that afforded him more time to spend doing what he loved with those he loved most. Dave passed away peacefully in his sleep due to non-cancer related issues.

Dave leaves behind his two children, Calvin and Tanja, to mourn his great loss. Dave spent this past summer creating once in a lifetime memories with his children and exploring all the great state of Vermont has to offer. This precious time helped Dave heal from the grueling, on-going treatments of his battle against brain cancer.

Dave was an amazing father, great friend and an extraordinary design talent. He leaves a legacy of innovative problem-solving, creativity and always finding beauty in the smallest of details.

We will miss him dearly.

Congratulations to SmartShape Design’s Bryan Neidert, Manager – Prototyping & Production, on 14 years of dedicated service!

Bryan began his career with SmartShape in 2006 as an Industrial Designer. His broad and deep skillset has allowed for internal growth within the consultancy and progressed his career forward.

Bryan now manages many aspects of day-to-day business at SmartShape, maintaining relationships with clients and vendors, alike, to ensure seamless transactions across our prototyping, manufacturing, quotations and shipments. Additionally, Bryan is responsible for our Information Technology operations and ensures our team is running smoothly day in and out.

We are excited to introduce you to our newest Industrial Designer & UX/UI Specialist, Douglas Cushing.

Doug joins the SmartShape Design team as a multi-disciplinary designer focused on creating products & experiences that both enhance and elevate brands. Doug is a tri-athlete, enjoys personal projects from electronics to toys to branding and helping animals find their forever home by volunteering at local animal shelters.
