I'm gonna drop some knowledge. If you just picked up ableton or any DAW and you're struggling with drums, it's because you haven't trained yourself to understand the bpm of the song you're constructing in your head.

Pick a song that has a similar vibe for what you're thinking and search the bpm and key of the track. Set your project to the same bpm. Use the grid for your kick and snare. Hi hats usually are inbetween them on a verse and with the kick on a drop. A phrase is typically 4 bars which end at 5:1:1 where the new one begins.

I hope this helps some people. Tutorials are often times click bait and can kill creativity. You don't need to study to make a song, you can alternate between working and learning and learning while you work.
