THIEVES DISH SOAP V. CONVENTIONAL OPTIONS

Have you heard the term ‘greenwashing'? It is when companies throw catch phrases or use certain packaging to trick consumers into thinking they are purchasing a natural product, when in reality, what they are buying isn't natural at all. Unfortunately the majority of the ‘natural' cleaning brands out there do this, which is a huge reason we love the Thieves Home products! No phthalates, parabens, bleach, formaldehyde, or toxic chemicals in these products - just the power of plants!

Another thing to note is that alllll those bubbles in your sink aren't actually cleaning your dishes any better. It is a trick called ‘pharmaceutical elegance' that acts as a visual cue to your brain to make you think you're getting a really clean sink of dishes. In reality, it doesn't make a difference. And when you switch to natural cleaning options, there are less bubbles because you're using plants instead of synthetic chemicals!

THE REAL F WORD…

Let's talk about the real “F word” - fragrance. Fragrance is a very loosely defined term when it comes to use in personal care and household products. Fragrance and synthetic perfumes are problematic because companies aren't required to disclose the exact ingredients in the fragrances. Even ‘natural fragrance' is problematic. Just because something is natural, doesn't mean we want to rub it on our skin (ie: formaldehyde - a naturally occurring compound that we don't want on our skin!). TO USE

🧽Dispense a small amount of soap with warm running water. Add additional soap as needed.

Note: Because this soap uses plant-based surfactants, it will not bubble as much as conventional options. If you really want the extra bubbles, add 2 tsp baking soda directly to the bottle and mix well.

TIPS for NON-TOXIC LAUNDRY DAYS

1. Make this amazing Thieves Laundry Detergent
What you will need:
32 oz Glass Mason Jar
Funnel
Measuring cup
Label of choice

10.5 oz of Thieves laundry detergent
3 capfuls of Thieves cleaner
15 drops of lemon essential oil
15 drops of purification essential oil
Distilled Water to fill remainder of jar

Directions:
Mark 10.5 oz with a sharpie on outside of glass. Fill jar with Thieves laundry detergent. Add Thieves cleaner and essential oils. Lastly, fill remainder of jar with distilled water. Gently shake to mix.

2. How to Soften Your Clothing
Simply add 1/4 cup of DISTILLED WHITE VINEGAR to the fabric softener dispenser or USE WOOL DRYER BALLS which reduces static and can lightly scent with DRYER BALL SPRAY (see my posts). Wool is naturally antibacterial making it awesome for using in the laundry. Place 3-4 wool dryer balls in with each load of laundry.

3. Clean Your Washing Machine
Soap residue and minerals etc can create build up over time and can trap bacteria so its important to clean your machine MONTHLY. Use your washer CLEANING CYCLE and don’t forget to clean the outside too!

4. Leave the Door/Lid of the Machine Open
Keeping it open for a period of time allows the inside of the basin to dry, preventing the growth of mold, mildew, and/or bacteria.

Do you take a probiotic? We’ve all heard of the benefits of probiotics, right?! The digestive tract is lined with billions of bacteria, good and bad, so really we can say there are billions of reasons to begin or continue a probiotic. 😉

We hear people talk about using probiotics all the time, but maybe you aren’t sure exactly what they are? Well, probiotics deliver the “good” bacteria back into your digestive system to keep things working optimally.

There are many varieties of probiotics on the market today, and there are also a wide variety of qualities. When using a probiotic, you want to be sure the probiotic is made up of an active or live strain!!!

Foaming Hand Soap FTW!

I don’t know why people buy foaming hand soap when it is sooo easy (and much more cost-effective) to make your own! It also would make a super easy gift! Tie a bow or a spruce sprig on it and you are set!

+30 drops Essential oil of choice
+Fill 1/4 of jar with unscented Castille soap
+Add 3 drops of Vitamin E oil
+fill rest with Distilled water
Add foaming hand soap dispenser and you are ready to go!
