Still Hopping on Pop

When I was young
I liked to hop on pop.a
The problem is...
I never learned how to stop!

Hop, Hop, Hop...
Hop all day…
Day after day...
After day, after day…
I'm hopping and hopping my life away.

Hopping on Pop
Has always been fun,
But Pop didn’t like it
When I turned twenty one.

Age twenty two,
Thirty three, Forty four...
Pop yelled "Son,
Please! No More!

My legs are weak
And my back is sore…
Put me out of my miz’ry.
Put me back in the war!"

With age comes weight,
Which adds to the fun,
Cuz’ I hop even harder
Weighing an eighth of a ton.

Hopping is fun…
In fact, it's a hoot!
And it's even better
When you make Pop toot!

But then, one day,
Pop ran out of gas.
Doc said he was ill
And made him lay on his ass!

"Just leave Pop alone!"
Is what the Doc said,
But hopping is great…
In a hospital bed!

Pop screamed for a nurse;
He screamed with a shrill...
"Get off of me son,
You're not in my will!"

I understand Pop,
I have a son too,
And he hops on me,
Like I hop on you!

He's 400 pounds…
And seven foot two.
He plays pro football
And has spikes on each shoe!

He has a son,
Whose name is Jim
And little Jim,
Likes to hop on him!

Pop said, "Yeah...
It is lots of fun.
I hop on my Pop,
Who’s one hundred one!"

"And he hopped on his pop
Who told him a fable...
Of how Pop Hopping started,
Way back with Cain and Abel!"

And from Henry the Third,
Through Henry the Seventh,
To Henry the Eighth,
Ninth, Tenth and Eleventh...

And on down the line…
We all hopped on pop!
It’s a family tradition,
That won’t ever stop!

So hop on your pop…
Let your kids hop on you…
Keep right on “Pop Hopping”
Til’ you’re a hundred and two!
