If you own a pool, a pool pump can be a marginal cost. On average, a pool pump can run you between $50-100 per month in energy costs. To reduce this cost, I would recommend looking into a variable speed pool pump. Here is the difference:
Single Speed Pump (Normal): This pump runs at full power for about 8 hours a day if not longer.
Variable Speed Pump: This pump can run at variable speeds meaning you could run it at 60% speed for 24 hours and circulate 3 times as much water as the single speed pump with the same cost of energy.
Once you implement a variable speed pump, you can program it to run for 12 hours, circulating your pool more than you were before but spending about half the amount of energy.

Another myth busted! A study by the US Department of Energy has proven that the energy payback for the average solar panel is between one and four years. The lifespan of a solar panel is approximately 25 years, and all the energy they will produce in that 25 year period will surpass the amount of energy used in production.
