One week in on our incubation journey with these batch of eggs!
Candleing is very important. At this stage it is mostly to take out any unfertilized eggs or potentially any bad or damaged eggs. Some eggs, if left unchecked, can explode and rot in an incubator due to bacterial contamination. If you have a rotten egg burst it can potentially affect any eggs around it and cause issues with others hatching or quality of the poults.
Signs of an exploding egg is usually a bad smell or leakage around the shell of a yellowish substance. If found, remove the eggs immediately and clean any area around the egg to prevent any contamination.
So when we candle the eggs how do we know they are developing? About a week in we should see spider-like veins within the shell. Any clear egg is not fertilized and should be removed. Typically, we might have a couple we are not sure about and will continue to incubate until we check back next week.
For our batch 12/13 eggs were developing. Stay tuned for next week!

We are delighted to announce that we have turkey poults! 🐣
Our hatching schedule is now in full swing, with weekly hatches planned for the rest of the season (April-June).
As a token of appreciation for our loyal followers, we are offering priority access to our poults. If you are interested, please contact me directly, and we will get you on our list.
✨ Please note: Blue-Slate turkeys are a splash breed. Therefore we have a mixture of blue, silver, and black poults. Blue/silver poults are in higher demand and will have longer waiting times.
We adhere to a strict policy of retaining our poults for a few extra days post-hatching to guarantee their health and happiness. Although this may cause slightly longer wait times, our commitment to delivering high-quality, thriving poults sets us apart from bigger box stores and hatcheries.

I don’t think these cuties get enough love sometimes 🥰🐣 around 25% of all hatches result in black slate poults.
I think our blue slates are gorgeous, but these little guys color is very pretty too! Sometimes they even have a dark gray coloring rather than pure black. They are so unique!

🦃 THANKSGIVING SPECIAL 🦃
We have 2️⃣ Blue Slate Jakes. They are around 6 months old and about 15 lbs each.
For our special guest for the holidays we will usually start supplementing their feed with corn about a month out. It helps promote weight gain and better meat quality.
