Google doesn't give the same answer to someone in New York that it gives someone in Cincinnati. It knows the difference...& it knows your niche. That's a awesome opportunity for local businesses willing to build video content around their specific market and expertise.

The more you own your niche on video, the more authority the algorithm assigns to you. Subject matter expertise doesn't require that you're a New York Times Best Seller. It requires showing up consistently in the conversations that actually matter to your customers.

I (Josh) used to work at an explainer video company. Back in 2012, there weren’t tons of companies that had video content. So if you had one explainer video, then you were way far ahead of most of your competition.

But now, one explain our video doesn’t cut it. You need multiple. You need how to videos. You need behind the scenes videos. And you need podcast content that is repurposed into short form.

I can make an argument for just about every kind of video content there is. However, if you need to start somewhere, I always recommend video podcasting. And yes, I’m biased. :p

If you’re trying to create a lot of content, and the people you want on camera, don’t have a lot of time, than this is one of the best things you can do.

You record one, ideally two podcast episodes a month. Create enough short form content to post every day. Use the transcript to create blog post, LinkedIn articles, and email newsletters.

Then you’re using a system to create video content that makes a lot of other pieces of content, and shows the personality and expertise of those in your company.

Are you the one who saying the most?

Here’s the thing, one of the things that builds credibility, invisibility, online is the one who is saying the most about a specific subject.

We know what Alex Hormozi or Gary Vaynerchuk think about business or social media or marketing or whatever…because they’ve put out a LOT of content.

And because they’ve put out a lot of content, and have honed how they say things, and structure their content to be found, they are not only visible, but influential.

It's time it came out...
..we're actually a YouTube studio.

(basically)

A lot of what we do is built around what we know about what works and what doesn't, with a bias towards YouTube. Many times, if you build it for YouTube, it will work on LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, etc.

He's gonna get hate for this...
..maybe.

The AI summary in Google means that your website might be getting a lot of impressions, but not the clicks.

That means more people are making decisions based on the AI summary. If that's the case...then how do you influence the AI summary? How do you tell Google that you have something to say about the things that your potential clients are asking about.

We think podcasting is a really helpful way to create massive amounts of video content that answers the specific questions that your potential clients are asking. But we're biased. :)

Are you your niche’s conversation?

I’ve been thinking about the announcement from Google IO 2026 about Ask YouTube…and really it seems like we’ve gone from the attention-economy, to the interest-economy, down to incredibly personalized content.

One of the things I think this becoming more and more important is not just creating tons of content. It’s about having the most to say about the thing that your clients and customers care about.

Are you the one who can be constantly putting out videos and blogs and articles that speak to the specific things that your audience would search?

As companies like Google & YouTube continue to get more personalized, it gives us an opportunity to be the ones that speak to the specific things that are audience is wondering about. It’s just a really really cool moment. :)

Ask YouTube is coming!

I'm not sure if you all saw the announcement at Google IO 2026 about Ask YouTube, but it's going to completely change the way that people interact with videos when they are searching for information.

I think because of this, it's going to be more and more important for businesses to have video content that answers specific questions that their audience would type into a Google Search, YouTube Search, or into an AI.

One of my favorite things about video podcasting is that you don’t have to be an engaging content creator in order for it to be helpful.

Every business leader I know is great at conversations, and they have them all the time. Networking, one-on-ones, sales presentations…they talk and have conversations a lot. But if you ask them to talk directly into a camera, often they will freeze up.

However...with video podcasting, it's a completely different story. They can just have a conversation or answer questions, that whole thing is captured, and then becomes a podcast which becomes clips which becomes brand awareness and a way to build trust with their audience.

If you have any questions about how this might work for you, and grab a time on my calendar! I’d love to talk:

Why do you think video matters? (because apparently it does according to YouTube's Broadcast event)

*"When users viewed an organic video on YouTube about a brand, they were 13X more likely to make a branded search and 5X more likely to make a purchase."

People's time is the most valuable thing they have. It's the one thing they can't get back.

It's an honor that someone would spend any amount of time on your content, especially anything long-form.
