For RecoverWisely’s SOBER STORY OF THE WEEK, we are highlighting James Jones, a man who transformed a cycle of five prison sentences and deep-seated addiction into a life of profound purpose. For years, James found more comfort within the prison system than in society, using drugs and criminal behavior to mask a lifelong feeling of being "different." This path eventually led him to a North Hollywood homeless shelter, where, battling fentanyl and methamphetamine addiction, he reached a level of desperation that finally outweighed his fear of change. He realized that while drugs had been his "solution" to internal pain, they had stripped him of everything, leaving him with nothing but what he could carry in a single suitcase.

Through a commitment to medical detox and over a year in residential treatment, James began performing "estimable acts" to rebuild the self-esteem he had lost. Today, he is 17 months sober and serves as an Admissions Coordinator for a treatment facility, turning his past mess into a powerful message of hope for those calling for help. Now a present father, son, and brother, James has built a stable, fulfilling life that he is no longer willing to surrender for a temporary escape. His journey serves as our SOBER STORY OF THE WEEK, proving that no matter how many times you have been institutionalized or how hopeless the situation feels, recovery and a new identity are always within reach.

🎵 Cincinnati Vibes & Mental Health Advocacy 🎵

What an incredible evening in the Queen City! I had the absolute pleasure of watching Isabella Azaria and Zachary Peterson perform tonight. Their talent is undeniable, but their passion for our community is what truly shines through.
We spent some time talking about the upcoming initiatives for Mental Health Month this May, and the energy is contagious! They are beyond excited about the work the legendary Bootsy Collins is doing.

At RecoverWisely, we are honored to help spread the word about the incredible impact of the Bootsy Collins Foundation. Their commitment to wellness and empowerment aligns perfectly with everything we stand for.

Stay tuned as we get closer to May—there is so much good work ahead!
