This month, Develocode had the chance to help a Girl Scouts of the USA troop earn their Coding for Good badge, and it might’ve been one of our favorite things we’ve done all year!

We talked about what an algorithm is (step-by-step instructions), acted out how computers only do exactly what you tell them, and introduced them to Ada Lovelace, the first computer programmer. The girls played around with a simple interactive button together, and honestly, if even half of them end up becoming software developers in the future, we would not be surprised.

Moments like this matter to us because Develocode wasn’t built just to write software. It was built to open doors earlier than we had them.

Huge thank-you to the troop leader who made this happen and to everyone who’s helping young girls see that they absolutely belong in tech.
