Here is a gap worth closing. When people do one kind thing for someone,
they tend to think it will land smaller than it actually does. In this
study, givers guessed the recipient's mood would rise to about 2.7 on a
scale of -5 to 5. Recipients actually landed at 3.5.

So consider this your nudge: that small kind thing you're not sure is
worth doing usually means more than you think. 31Kind is three small
kindnesses a day, free, and it's never too late to join.

Being kind to your community turns out to be a form of self-care. In a
study of nearly 3,000 older adults, those who volunteered had 43% lower
odds of depression.

Kindness to your community is one of the three daily pieces of 31Kind,
right alongside kindness to yourself and to someone else. It's free,
and you can start any day in July.

Kindness, social activities, or a therapy technique: which helps most
when you're struggling? Researchers put all three to the test. All
three helped. Kindness came out on top, and it was the only one that
left people feeling more connected.

The best part? Kindness is free and always within reach. That's why we
built 31Kind: three small kindnesses a day, one for you, one for someone
else, one for your community. Jump in any day in July. Join today, link in bio.
