Happy birthday Herbie Hancock, few have had such a huge impact on my life's philosophy and direction. Truly don't know where, who, or if I would be without your guidance. So much of my confidence in who I am is reinforced by the example laid out in the patterns and pathways of your music, as well as wisdom shared beyond music. It's kept me open to possibilities, given me the reminder and inspiration to feel all my feelings all the way through so that they can give way to better ones. To walk into the sunlight, to hang up my hangups, to just keep on doin' it, to express fully so I may know myself better, see the actual proof and understand the effect of my actions in the Universe. You never compromised your vision just for money or commercial significance and that example means the world to me. Your music lives in the edge of the unfolding Moment, and here you still stand one of the greats. Musicians know. Those who know, know. When things get dark and I don't believe the facade anymore of the artists I want to run to, your voice stands unwavering and true. Thank you master herbie. for the reminder and permission to be fully who i already am.
