A five year outlook for home prices from the Home Price Expectation Survey suggests that:
- Values will appreciate by 4% in 2016
- Cumulative appreciation will be 17.5% by 2020.
- That means that the average annual appreciation will be 3.2% over the next 5 years.
While that may not be as much as in some previous years, San Diego's return is gnerally better than that and what your typical savings account provides, plus you get a tax deduction to boot.
