We carry out many activities related to emergency plan coordination, training and exercising. We are actively involved with citizen & community members, non-profit and voluntary organizations, private businesses, local governments, public safety & service organizations, and county, state, and federal entities.
It’s always nice to see the storms fizzle out and move around Lake Winnebago and away from our county. It’s certainly not always the case, but happens often.

On this day in Wisconsin ~ June 8, 1984
Shortly before 1:00 AM, the village of Barneveld was hit by a F5 tornado. A large amount of damage was done along the tornado's path with the most significant being in Barneveld; approximately 90 percent of the village was destroyed. A total of nine people were killed, and 200 were injured. The tornado moved quickly into Dane County and hit the Black Earth area around 1:07 AM. The path of the tornado was about 36 miles, and it was on the ground for almost one hour. An F5 tornado is the highest rating on the Fujita scale.
