THE 4 STAGES OF SPIRITUAL MATURITY

Every one of us moves through the same four stages of spiritual growth, and most of us never notice it happening.

It starts with unconscious disobedience. We don't know the Lord. We're doing wrong, but we don't feel guilty about it. It's just what everybody does.

Then the Holy Spirit starts working, and we move into conscious disobedience. We're still doing the same stuff, but now we feel guilty, because we know it's wrong.

Then we come to Christ and trust in Him. This is conscious obedience. We're fighting the same battles, but now we're trying to do the right thing.

But trying hard to obey still isn't spiritual maturity.

Maturity is the fourth stage: unconscious obedience. It's just who you've become. You automatically think, say, and do the right thing because the Spirit of God has matured you.

So which of the four stages are you living in right now?

Maturity is the result of intentional exercise, not instantaneous experience.
