BLT Comedy

The Beer Bistro, our home for the past two plus years, will be closing next week. This news is sad for the neighborhood and the city.

We owe endless gratitude to Bob McDermott—the bar’s owner who offered us the resources and support to get BLT Comedy off the ground—and the staff for their over-the-top efforts these past two years.

To those who came out over the years, thank you. Our crowds helped make a windowless basement room into one of the city’s best venues for independent comedy. Many performers told us the 8 or 10 minutes they spent on our stage were among their favorite sets in years of doing comedy. The energy and intelligence you brought to the table as audience members made that possible.

As far as the future of BLT Comedy, we are looking for another venue, ideally in the neighborhood. For the time being, the show is on hiatus. We do expect to be back by fall. In the interim, there are dozens of great local comedy showcases. They sink or swim based on the strength of their audiences. Get out and support them!
