American Bar Endowment

The ABE awarded a $33,500 Opportunity Grant to the Community Law Program, a Florida-based nonprofit dedicated to providing equal access to justice for the poor and disadvantaged. CLP used the funds in collaboration with the Stetson University College of Law to help restore voting rights for Floridians who completed felony sentences and returned to the community.

CLP started a series of virtual clinics on voting rights restoration, which involved the recruitment and training of law students and volunteer attorneys. The organization established a partnership with Florida Rights Restoration and researched hundreds of records, providing relief without court intervention and consulting with individuals about filing court petitions.
