Logan Square Neighborhood Association began as a committed group of neighbors motivated by the emergence of community redlining. Today, we are Palenque LSNA, a multi-issue community organization, directly serving more than 6,500 residents and impacting tens of thousands more through nationally-recognized issue campaigns and programs. Palenque LSNA proudly celebrates Sonia Cortez’s remarkable trajectory as Parent Mentor Coordinator at Avondale-Logandale School. For more than 20 years, Sonia has empowered parents, developed community leaders, and inspired others to actively shape and strengthen their community.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Congresswoman Delia Ramirez for this special recognition honoring Sonia’s enduring legacy, dedication, and impact on generations of families and community leaders.

Our parents, teachers, students, youth, and community leaders are making their voices heard. This week, they wrote and delivered 150 letters to our local state elected officials urging them to pass a budget that puts people first, not billionaires, not corporations, and not special interests.

Our communities deserve fully funded schools, accessible healthcare, safe neighborhoods, youth opportunities, and the resources we need to thrive.

A budget is a reflection of our values. We are calling on our elected officials to choose working families over the ultra-wealthy.
