The mission of the Consumer Financial Services Committee is to provide excellent educational and networking opportunities for its members, who represent consumers, industry, agencies, and regulators. About our Committee:
The Consumer Financial Services Committee (CFSC) is comprised of approximately 1400 members representing consumers, industry, agencies, and regulators in the practices areas of

• Housing and personal property finance
• Truth in lending
• Financial privacy, credit reporting, information security and identity theft
• Federal preemption of state and local laws
• Electronic delivery of consumer financial services
• Stored value and credit cards
• Credit discrimination and fair access to financial services
• Litigation and arbitration
• Debt collection and consumer bankruptcy
• Compliance management
• Deposit products and payment systems and
• Federal and state trade practices

How to Get Involved:

Are you interested in joining or working with the Consumer Financial Services Committee? There are several ways to become involved:

• Attend a Meeting
Many of our members meet at any of our three annual meetings, including the Business Law Section (BLS) Spring Meeting, the BLS Annual Meeting, and the CFSC Winter Meeting, at which numerous substantive subcommittees within the CFSC present CLE programs addressing a wide variety of relevant consumer finance topics.

• Join our Young Lawyers or In-House Counsel Subcommittees
The CFSC also has both a Young Lawyers Subcommittee and an In-House Counsel Subcommittee to engage members with content particular to their roles within the legal profession.

• Publish or Speak
CFSC acts as a resource to agencies as legislation or regulations are promulgated. The CFSC publishes the preeminent Annual Survey of Consumer Financial Services Law, sponsors the annual Consumer Financial Services Institute for new practitioners, assists committee members seeking to publish books or treatises, and publishes a quarterly e-newsletter focusing on recent developments in consumer finance law. • Join Leadership
The CFSC offers Young Lawyer Liaison positions for newer lawyers to participate in the leadership of all of our subcommittees. Additionally, the CFSC has a revolving roster of leadership roles, from participation as a Chair or Vice-Chair of a subcommittee to the CFSC Chair and Vice-Chair roles. Using our page:

This program will discuss emerging topics in FCRA litigation that have arisen since the start of the COVID-19 global pandemic. Topics may include new decisions concerning standing, distinctions to be drawn in furnisher liability claims, evolution of the "willfulness" standard, and others.
