Today, Mayor Brandon Johnson came through to Back of the Yards to take a walk with our team and chop it up with two of our young leaders about what public safety looks like in our community.
Ashley and Kevin shared what they want to see in the neighborhood: more safe spaces for families, year-round youth jobs, places to gather, and real investments that help young people thrive.
This is how we build stronger communities: through collective dialogue, listening to those most impacted, and creating opportunities for young people to feel valued. Public spaces where neighbors can gather, connect, and build relationships are part of what makes communities safer.
Thank you, Mayor Johnson, for walking with us and hearing directly from the young people leading the way. ✊🏽💙
And HUGE shout out to the folks at CSCC for providing free ice cream to neighbors on a hot summer day.☀️🍦
