Join Chicago Dance Crash for an open studio experience as part of our three-week residency with choreographer Annie Franklin, developing new work in collaboration with producer e j e c t.

This open rehearsal invites community members into the creative process, offering a firsthand look at how Franklin and resident composer e j e c t are working with the ensemble. Participants will see the methods Crash is using to foster collaboration between dancers and musicians, exploring how movement and sound can be built simultaneously. 

Schedule:
6:00–7:00 PM | Community Workshop with Annie Franklin

A movement-based workshop led by Franklin, offering participants a chance to engage with her choreographic approach and explore improvisation, physical awareness, and personal movement language.

7:00–8:30 PM | In-Process Showing + Talkback

A showing of material developed during the residency, featuring live collaboration between the dancers and e j e c t. The evening concludes with a talkback, giving audiences insight into the creative process and an opportunity to engage directly with the artists.

Join Crash for open class with Monday 5/18!

Class will focus on retaining movement quality and texture within choreography while strengthening memory, muscle control, and musicality. Dancers will be challenged to quickly absorb and internalize choreography, learning how to connect themselves to movement with clarity and intention.

In her classes, Felecia emphasizes movement quality and flow, encouraging dancers to fully absorb and embody choreography with both control and sensitivity. Felecia is passionate about creating a focused and supportive environment where dancers feel both grounded and inspired, encouraging them to grow, take ownership of their training, and fully engage in the process.

Open Class: 12-1:30 PM
Open Lab Session: 1:30-3 PM
Location: Rhythmhood x Snipes Studio
