Position: EAL Part-time faculty
Program: English as an Additional Language Program

Position Summary:
The English and Creative Writing Department is seeking applications for position of part-time faculty of English as an Additional Language (EAL) Program. This position begins on September 5, 2023. The courses we are offering will be face-to-face format meeting twice a week.

The courses we are offering are as follows:
International W&R 1: Monday & Wednesday; 10:30-11:50am
International Oral Expression: Monday & Wednesday; 12:30-1:50pm.
International Oral Expression: Monday & Wednesday; 2:00-3:20pm

Qualifications:
The faculty should hold a M.A. in TESOL, TEFL, Applied Linguistics, or a related field and have extensive experience working with multilingual learners in higher education.
Knowledge of a language other than English is preferred.

Illinois Institute of Technology is seeking a part-time adjunct ESL Instructor for the Summer 2023 semester. Qualified candidates must have a Master’s degree in Linguistics/TESOL and experience teaching English as a Second Language to intermediate and advanced IEP/EAP students.

Currently, we're in need of an instructor to teach in our Intensive English Program. Courses meet twice weekly on T/R or W/F between the hours of 10:00 am-4:30 pm at our Mies Campus (10 W 33rd St) in Bronzeville. This program will run from May 15-August 8. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking for a summer teaching position or to gain experience in teaching English for Academic Purposes. Compensation is competitive.

Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s Degree in Linguistics/TESOL in hand, not in progress
Minimum of two years of ESL / EFL teaching experience, preferably in a university-based ESL program
Evidence of professionalism, flexibility, and a genuine commitment to students
Knowledge of best teaching practices is essential, as is experience in curriculum and materials development
Ability to assist with other program-related duties and administrative tasks, including placement, orientation, proctoring, student evaluation, curriculum, program review, and professional development

Additional information:
This position may require additional participation in Orientation, professional development day, and end-of-semester grading and records.

ADULT EDUCATOR - ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE (ESL)
TRUMAN COLLEGE

Truman College is seeking a Part-Time English as a Second Language (ESL) Adult Educator to provide instruction to students enrolled in our Adult Education Department.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develops class syllabi and appropriate class materials and curriculum for class instruction.
Takes attendance and monitors class enrollment, and enters information into PeopleSoft in a timely manner.
Evaluates student progress and extra instruction needs; refers student to tutoring as needed.
Administers progress tests to students and assigns grades based on test results.
Prepares reports to senior management regarding test scores, student participation and student progress.
Keeps abreast of state rules and regulations regarding Adult Education policies.
Attends regular staff meetings with Adult Education Managers and Adult Education Deans to receive information regarding program policies and procedures.
Assists with program registration.
Participates in staff development programs as required.


QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited university in English, Linguistics, TESOL, or a related field. M.A. in English, Applied Linguistics, TESOL, or a related field preferred.
Standard-Proficient Instructor training for ESL preferred.
International degree(s) evaluated by a certified provider (e.g. E.C.E., W.E.S., etc.).
Official transcript(s) reflect sufficient subject-relevant coursework to teach the assigned course.
Submit sample lesson plans, syllabi and/or teaching portfolio that reflect skills in area(s) of instruction, including computer literacy and adult learning practices.
Resume reflects knowledge of current adult education classroom assessment techniques.
Completed satisfactory teaching demonstration for the hiring committee.
15 graduate hours or more in the discipline that they will be teaching.
Current enrollment in a subject appropriate, master’s degree program at an accredited university/college.

Seeking: Summer ESL/EAL Instructor who has at least a Master’s in TESOL or Applied Linguistics (or a related field) and experience teaching English at the university (preferably graduate) level. Must have experience adapting class materials and lesson plans to students’ needs (at times on short notice). Must be able to provide guidance on academic and cultural resources on the UChicago campus and in the city of Chicago to incoming graduate students.
