In-person services will resume at a later date once it is safe for our clinicians to return to in-office work.

👫🏻 One of the hardest things for parents to accept about their kid’s self-esteem is that they are typically more concerned with the approval of peers they admire as they get older. This means that most kids either reject or don’t take seriously the great things their parents say about them, making parents feel helpless with regard to helping their child feel worthy. 🤔 So what do you do as a parent during this tough season to help with your child’s self-esteem? 👉🏻 You absolutely continue to remind them that they’re loved and worthy, but arguably more important, you prioritize maintaining structure in their life that catches them like a safety net and keeps them moving forward even if they don’t get the approval they’re seeking. 👉🏻 Here are three areas kids desperately need help structuring in their lives: 🛌Sleep: As kids get older, one of the first areas I routinely see parents become permissive with is sleep. Kids need consistent bedtimes and quality sleep to effectively manage their mood. 🎨🎺⚾️Social: The best way for kids to socialize even if they don’t want to is to require them to participate in something beyond school. 📚School: Require your child to meet high expectations regardless of what their self-esteem is like. This is not about the content, but about the skills they will need to be successful in life, such as showing up, staying organized, and trying their best. #parentingtips #lowselfesteem #challengingbehaviour #behaviormodification #behaviormanagement #schoolcounselor #coach 12/19/2023
