While similar in movement to Pilates or Hatha Yoga on a physical level, the practice of DoxaSoma is specifically Christian in its focus. It was developed by ACE certified personal trainer, Angela Doll Carlson as an alternative to the practice of yoga.

In DoxaSoma we call this position, "Joshua" and the verse that informs it is, "Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go."
Joshua 1:7
Begin in a sitting position, legs straight out ahead of you. Lift at the heart. Bring your left hand to just behind body, letting your torso gently turn to follow. Lift at heart again drawing right hand to mat outside your left leg. Breathe. Look over your back shoulder to intensify the movement. To exit the position, lift again at the heart, release your hands and turn back to face front. A nice fold forward always feels good here.
