In 1917, Albany Park was a rather new section on the North side of Chicago. The only House of Worship in the area was a Reform Temple, which did not meet the needs of an incoming Orthodox component. A group of like-minded individuals decided to form their own minyan. Only the last names of this nucleus are on record. They are Messrs. Perlstein, Weiss, Elison, Weinstein and Karasik.
