Today, we were honored to welcome a high-level delegation from the Embassy of the Slovak Republic in Nairobi, led by Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Juraj Blanár and Ambassador Maroš Mitrík.

The delegation spent time with the young women at the heart of RefuSHE’s work, engaging with aspiring fashion designers in our dressmaking program, students preparing for examinations in our nail art and beauty class, and participants in our digital literacy lab. They also met RefuSHE artisans and learned more about the craftsmanship and entrepreneurship behind their work.

As part of the visit, the Embassy presented a €10,000 contribution in support of our digital literacy program. To date, more than 100 refugee girls have completed the program, gaining practical digital skills that complement their vocational training and expand their opportunities for the future.

We are deeply grateful to the Embassy of the Slovak Republic in Nairobi for their continued partnership and investment in refugee girls and young women.

Meet Linet Yar, a refugee who fled civil war in her home country of South Sudan 🇸🇸 in search of a better life in Nairobi. Linet enrolled in RefuSHE’s Fashion & Design 🧵👗 program and is now starting her career in Nairobi’s thriving fashion industry.

Today on campus, we marked with games, open conversations, and practical self-care tips shared by our mental health team. At RefuSHE, community means joy, connection, and showing up for one another in meaningful ways.

Mental health care is not just a program on paper. It is in the everyday moments of listening, supporting, and creating safe spaces for our participants. Moments like these are a reminder of why that matters 🤍
