The Fingertips Program is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that is dedicated to helping kids and teens find their passion and follow their dream. Katie Quick, an award-winning singer/songwriter, teacher, life coach, mental health counselor, and motivational speaker, began Fingertips in 2010 with an unforgettable school assembly concert experience that combined live music with motivational speak
ing. The program has become widely known for the school assemblies, but has since expanded to include more programming to help kids achieve their dreams including life coaching and mental health counseling. Katie has inspired over one million students since the start of the program, making Fingertips one of the fastest growing and most sought after enrichment programs in the country. More on Katie Quick...
Katie Quick's journey began as a Chicago Public School teacher in 2004, where she used music in the classroom to help inspire her inner city students. It was there in 2007 that she penned the song, "Fingertips," for her then 6th grade class, which later appeared on her debut album and became the inspiration for the program. As we look back at her journey, it turns out she was right. Katie wanted to not only tell her students that anything was possible, but to also SHOW them. In 2007, she left the classroom and headed to Nashville to pursue her life long dream of making music. It was there that she wrote, produced, and released three albums of her original music to rave reviews around the world. She was the winner of stuch prestigious awards as The John Lennon Songwriting Competition for her song "The Exit" which gives hope to LGBT youth and Album of the Year in the Independent Music Awards for her self-produced sophomore album, Valley Between Love. She has appeared on radio and television broadcasts across the country, including most recently, on ABC's Katie Couric Show with the legendary Clive Davis, and even made her debut on Broadway in Rock of Ages. Katie toured throughout the United States and Africa, and has had her music played on stations throughout England, Sweden, and Australia. She has also shared the stage with such musical legends as Peter Frampton, performing unabashedly as a standout solo artist in front of thousands. But even with all of her musical success, she felt something was missing. It was in 2010 that Katie formed Fingertips as a way to connect with students and share with them the stories of her journey. During it's first year, Fingertips got such an incredible response that she was able to book the next three years on word of mouth alone. She traveled solo to schools all across the country, toting her guitar and p.a. with her in the old Saturn Ion. Although the time in Nashville turned out to be some of the most amazing years of Katie's life, she decided to make the move back home to Chicago in 2014 with dreams of making Fingertips bigger and better than ever.
Fingertips Today...
Today, Katie Quick is still living the dream. She is not only the founder of an amazing non-profit organization, but she is also working as a music teacher, private guitar and songwriting instructor, and mental health counselor for kids. Residing in San Diego, California, she is weeks away from finishing her Masters degee in Counseling at Northwestern University with an emphasis in Children and Adolescents. She is beyond excited to join forces with her friend, Ryan Chesla, a certified strength and conditioning specialist and former Division I and NFL player who is committed to sharing his passion for physical health and wellness with kids. Starting in April 2017, Katie and Ryan will be launching the Play Your Heart Out Tour, a nationwide initiative that will provide the Fingertips Program to an estimated 1 million kids across the country. Together, they will inspire kids to find their passion and follow their dreams, as well as teach them to strive for a healthy life balance of the mind, body, and spirit. They are currently seeking corporate sponsors and donors to help fund the program.
