"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go."
This powerful verse from the book of Joshua is a profound reminder of God's steadfast presence and unwavering support. As Joshua
prepared to lead the Israelites into the Promised Land, he faced immense challenges and uncertainties. Yet, God commanded him to be strong and courageous, assuring him that He would be with him every step of the way.
In our 21st-century lives, we too face various challenges and uncertainties. It may be a difficult decision, a significant life change, or the daily struggles that test our faith and resilience. In these moments, it's easy to feel overwhelmed and discouraged. However, this verse offers a timeless truth - God is with us.
His presence is not conditional or temporary but a constant source of strength and
encouragement.
Being strong and courageous doesn't mean we won't feel fear or doubt. It means choosing to trust God despite those feelings. It involves stepping forward in faith, knowing that we are not alone. We can draw courage from the knowledge that God's promises are as true today as they were for Joshua.
In practical terms, this could mean starting your day with prayer, seeking God's guidance before making decisions, or finding solace in the Bible during tough times. It also means surrounding yourself with a community of believers who can offer support and encouragement.
Reflect on this: What area of your life is God calling you to be strong and courageous in right now? How can you remind yourself daily of His presence and promises? Consider journaling your thoughts or sharing them with a trusted friend or mentor. Let this verse be a source of strength and encouragement as you navigate your journey of faith.
