On the Other Side of the Screen by Lydia S. from Midwood High School

Spurred by the modern times heavily reliant on technology, I wanted to create a piece that could depict some of the consequences behind cyberbullying. Through screens we are able to communicate to each other without being face to face and the anonymity that this provides may enable cyberbullies to feel empowered when targeting someone online. Being able to freely make fun of someone or take out their anger through hurtful words on others may seriously affect their victims. On the other side of the screen, the comments these cyberbullies make, whether fully aware or unaware of the true extent of the damage they can cause, has already hit its mark.
