Established in 2001, the DePaul Men's Rugby Football Club is devoted to playing hard on the field as well as having a good time together, off the field. Rugby is a fast, skilled, team-oriented game combining the tactical complexity and physical brutality of American football (without the padding) with the continuity and pace of soccer and the scoring rate of lacrosse. This weekend DePaul faced off against Loyola for their annual "Redline Rivalry" match. Due to weather, the game was played on Sunday at Loyola's pitch. That did not stop the Demons from playing their style of rugby. Loyola drew first blood but DePaul followed closely behind. The score went back and forth the whole game with the teams hardest match of the season yet. The Demons were able to pull away late in the game and stay on top until time was up. Another Demon victory now has the record at 3-1. The team travels up to Marquette next weekend for our last regular season match and a battle for second place in the southern conference division.
Final Score DePaul 22 - Loyola 21
Man of the Match: Jurie H. Victor, He has done an outstanding job as the Demons new head coach. Cheers to Jurie!
