The Colibrí Fellowship is growing and making an impact nationwide.

In 2026, the fellowship doubled in size, expanding from two to four states and training 52 nonprofit professionals to become Department of Justice Accredited Representatives. These dedicated fellows will help thousands of immigrants and families access free, high-quality immigration legal services. Since launching in 2022, the Colibrí Fellowship has trained 130 fellows who will collectively provide free legal support to more than 20,000 immigrants each year.

This life-changing work is made possible through the generous support of our funders: the Illinois Department of Human Services, Walder Foundation, Abundant Futures, and Lawyers Trust Fund.

We're also incredibly grateful to our host organizations and training partners— Truth, Racial Healing & Transformation, Organized Communities Against Deportations, DePaul University, Villanova University, Innovation Law Lab in Oregon, El Centro Hispano, Inc. in Wisconsin and MIRA: Massachusetts Immigrant and Refugee Advocacy Coalition, Inc. (MIRA) in Massachusetts—for their commitment to expanding access to justice and strengthening immigrant communities. Together, we're building a future where more families have access to trusted legal support. 💙
