action. After returning home, he discussed with our Pastor, the Late Elder Willie E. Gordon, the possibility of starting a school for our congregation. After much prayer and planning, the Drexel Church of God Learning Center opened its doors in September 1988 with 26 Pre-K students. We were housed in our Church Annex, located at 924 E. 46th Street until September 1998, when we were faced with opposition and had to vacate the annex due to unforeseen circumstances. There seemed to be no hope, but we were assured that God was not through with the D.L.C., nor had he let us know that this was the end of our school journey. During this transition period, some students transferred to other schools and some were home schooled. Our Administrator opened her doors and with the few students that remained, had school in her home. During this time, Pastor James May of the Liberty School of Christian Education heard of our plight and God laid it upon his heart to share his unused space with the D.L.C. had a new home. It wasn’t as much space as we had been accustomed to but it was enough space to meet our needs. God had given the victory again! We are a Christian School and it is an extension of the home in training our young people in a Christian environment for time and eternity. Our staff work closely with the parents to train the whole child in the fear of God. Attendance at our school is a privilege and not a right! The goal of this school is not to reform but to train Christian youth of every ability in the highest principles of Christian leadership, self-discipline, individual responsibility, personal integrity, and good citizenship. This school stands without apology for the old-time Gospel and the highest standards of morality and Christian behavior. Our academic levels are Kindergarten through Eighth Grade. In addition to our Christian training of the student, we give a well-rounded academic program, incorporating Cultural Days, Field Trips, Science and Art Fairs during the school year.
