Calling all youth poets! Apply to become the next Chicago Youth Poet Laureate! This is your chance to showcase your talent and inspire your community. Applications close on January 6th. YCA is calling all writing educators to join us for the Writing Teachers Collective Summer Series! This summer, WTC will invite writing educators to build community by activating three different locations around Chicago with their poetry and pedagogy.

Join us Saturday, June 15, from 11am - 2pm, at the West Side Justice Center!

Kuumba Lynx co-founders, Jacinda Bullie & Jaquanda Saulter, along with a cohort of Kuumba Lynx Youth Poets, will kick off the series by guiding participants through a writing workshop that activates The Poetry Making Playground.

The Poetry Making Playground is an immersive creative installation where original poems, written by some of Chicago’s most renowned poets, have been reimagined and physicalized for audiences to interact with in an entirely new way! The poetry playground fuses poetics, tangible objects, illustration, fabrications/design, multimedia, life size interactive and reflective installations for everyone! It will include up to 7 interactive works inviting one to Tap -Tap into our radical imagination and engage our ancestral geometries, sacred syllable inheritance, metaphorical joys, genetic word wisdoms and righteous rhymes.
