Navigating today’s economic landscape is challenging for everyone, especially job seekers. Before even beginning their search, candidates must clarify their career goals while contending with rapid changes such as AI‑driven job shifts, industry downsizing, and increased competition.

JCFS Chicago’s Duman Opportunity Center brings deep expertise in helping individuals secure and sustain meaningful employment. From July through December 2025, Duman participants achieved a 30% increase in job placements compared to the same period in 2024 — a testament to the effectiveness of our personalized support and employer partnerships.

Everyone has a story to tell, and every voice deserves to be heard.

At JCFS Chicago, we provide counseling and supportive services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. A key part of that work is understanding each person's unique communication style so they can express themselves, build meaningful connections, and share their experiences in the way that works best for them.

A big thank you to Bracha Jakofsky, JCFS Chicago Abuse Prevention Coordinator and Mental Health Educator, and Aliza Weiner, Jewish Community Liaison, for representing JCFS Chicago at the Chicago Center's Health and Safety Fair outside the Bernard Horwich JCC in West Rogers Park.

Bracha and Aliza connected with more than 4,000 attendees, sharing information about the SMART Kids program and the wide range of services JCFS provides to support children and families.

SMART Kids is a child abuse prevention program for children in preschool through fourth grade that teaches boundaries, bodily autonomy, and how to make safe choices in uncomfortable situations.

Twelve students graduated during the Knapp School & Yeshiva’s 52nd Graduation Celebration, including two from kindergarten, marking the first time kindergarteners were included in the program.

The graduation ceremony featured a slideshow, recognition for retirees, and the presentation of the Spark Joy award, which honors a staff member who “sparks joy” at Knapp. This year, paraprofessional Devin Thompson received the Spark Joy Award.

“Devin's impact is felt across the entire school,” said Principal Dr. Diona Lewis. “Staff enjoy working with him, students look up to him, and the school benefits every day from his positivity, reliability, and care. He truly "sparks joy" at Knapp School, and in many ways he is the glue that helps hold the school community together.”

Congratulations to the graduates and their families!
