Internationally acclaimed artist Gerald Williams lives and works in the West Woodlawn neighborhood on Chicago’s South Side, where he grew up and returned in 2016. He has strong opinions about his beloved neighborhood and the major facelift it’s going through, with the Obama Center expected to open in 2026. Mr. Williams is a founding member of AfriCOBRA, one of the most distinctive and influential art movements of the 20th Century.
