Emergency: 312-322-2800 or 911 Metra is one of the largest and most complex commuter rail systems in North America, serving Cook, DuPage, Will, Lake, Kane and McHenry counties in Northeastern Illinois. The agency provides service to and from downtown Chicago with 242 stations over 11 routes totaling nearly 500 route miles and approximately 1,200 miles of track.

Metra is implementing service improvements across the Metra Electric Line with a new schedule that takes effect June 15. The new schedule simplifies service patterns and increases service frequency at multiple stations in alignment with the goals of the Northern Illinois Transit Authority Act to expand public transit access and improve reliability.
