For a Grocery Store for the residents of Dearborn Homes Residents to be secure at 2711 S. State Street.

We members of the Dearborn Homes Chicago Public Housing neighborhood and the public at large, petition the City of Chicago, Chicago Housing Authority and Elected officials to come together in bringing about a Grocery Store for Dearborn Homes residents. Mayor Lori E. Lightfoot Chicago’s INVEST South/West as well as the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Section 3, Hope 6 project is a well investment initiative to support a grocery store for Dearborn Homes like there are available for most high rise residential buildings in the Loop area.
The launch is designed to invite the focus of a grocery store to locate or expand to commercial space at 2711 S. State Street for Dearborn Homes as once served by Don’s Food Mart targeting the needs of the residents as the main direction.
RECOMMENDED ACTIONS: Secure the backing of the City of Chicago, Elected officials and Chicago Housing Authority with meeting the objectives of:
• Secure official dates for project stages with resolutions by CHA and Chicago agencies upon needed.
• Location (2711 S. State Street, https://www.loopnet.com/Listing/2711-S-State-St-Chicago-IL/11762259/)
• To determine how many new jobs are to be created in a selected time frame
• Products that can be established for the store (Whole sellers has been identified).
• Create a practical means of bringing Community Members in touch with the spirit of the store.
• Encourage trade marketing by the residents.
• The funding request, market analysis and investment analysis for growth to benefit the residents, the ownership.
The potential of this store is a long overdue. Dearborn Homes have new residents and youth that did not witness the value of Don’s Food Mart. The youth must see their families and communities
