"Yesterday, I received a bottle of Gordon & MacPhail George & J.G. Smith’s Glenlivet 15yr from my friend and co-worker Jonathan Green. This is one of the nicest gifts. It made me smile from ear to ear. Thank you Jonathan.

This particular bottling from Gordon & MacPhail is my fist Single Malt Scotch experience.

It was the Spring of 2003, my first of many trips to Scotland.

I was with Joe C., my brother, and another co-worker in Elgin, Scotland perusing the shelves at the Gordon & MacPhail shop.

I ultimately selected the George & J.G. Smith’s Glenlivet 15yr to be my first Single Malt Scotch purchase.

At the end of the day, back at our hotel room, we went ahead and opened the bottle, poured all of us a fat dram.

The aromas, flavors, mouth feel, conversations and comradery this bottle delivered, created a memory in me that will be mine to treasure all my days.

We eventually tucked in for the evening. I left a small mouthful in my glass on the nightstand next to where I slept.

The next morning, I woke with layers of honey in my nose and the memory of my first dram.

It left a smile on my face. That’s a great way to start the day."
