Today for we recognize Jane Matilda Bolin, the first Black woman to serve as a judge in the U.S. She was also the first Black woman to graduate from Yale Law School and join the New York City Bar. Bolin was an activist for education and children’s rights, including working to racially integrate child services to further equity in the probationary system and publicly funded childcare agencies.
