Ring culture in music is very real

The moment you feel like you slowed down, or lost momentum, or even felt like your love for your art disappeared is NOT the time to quit.

It’s a sign that you got to a point where you haven’t been. It’s a moment to reflect on what you’ve done right. It’s an opportunity to get better and tap back into the original reasons you got into this.

Just because this industry feels broken, doesn’t mean that you stop trying to help others and yourself.

Don’t miss the point of life worrying about what others are thinking about or doing. Build something that matters to you and stop waiting on the right moment to be happy.

Even if you get to the “top”, you’ll still find something to be unhappy about. Build the right habits now to set yourself up for long term fulfillment.

I’ve only gained this perspective from getting caught up in “ring culture” and feeling like whatever I do is not enough and no one’s gonna care unless I win the “championship”.

F that. Be proud and live in the space where you push yourself to be better even in the face of self doubt. Don’t play tricks on yourself and be your biggest fan.
