Update about Weiss Hospital, which is on the brink of closure. Here are some VERY urgent action steps to show our federal and state elected officials and the CEO of the hospital, Dr. Prasad, how much hospitals like Weiss mean for our communities. Weiss has served as a critical healthcare anchor for decades, delivering essential medical services to thousands of residents across Uptown and Edgewater neighborhood.

Save Weiss Memorial Hospital! Louis A. Weiss Memorial Hospital, a safety net hospital located in the Uptown neighborhood of Chicago, is on the brink of closure. Weiss has served as a critical healthcare anchor for decades, delivering essential medical services to thousands of residents across Uptown and Edgewater neighborhoods.....

SAVE WEISS HOSPITAL!

We now stand to lose Weiss Hospital after the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) issued a notice of termination, effective August 9, which will remove Weiss from the Medicare program due to cited concerns around nursing services, emergency protocols, and physical environment. As our earlier campaign predicted, the sale of the Weiss Hospital parking lot to build a luxury condo and the inadequate resources provided by Resilience, the hospital’s new owners would eventually lead to the demise of the hospital.
We need time to develop a campaign that would force the adequate resources and the sale of the hospital to a provider that would bring in resources and stabilize the hospital.

We are asking to get an 8-week extension on the deadline for Weiss ownership to make the repairs needed to be compliant to receive Medicare payments.
