This Juneteenth, let us reflect, celebrate freedom for all, and continue the fight against racism. Here are a few things you can do to acknowledge this important moment in U.S. history.

- Tour a Black history museum
- Support a Black-owned business
- Learn about the history of Juneteenth
- Talk to peer about issues facing the Black community

We first partnered with Supporting and Mentoring Youth Advocates and Leaders (SMYAL) in 2019. SMYAL is a DC-based non-profit that provides critical support to local LGBTQ+ youth, through mentorship, advocacy, housing, and more.

Throughout the years, we’ve hosted guest speakers to discuss topics such as using proper pronouns, fostering a supportive LGBTQ+ culture in the workplace, and understanding the intersectionality of gender and race. We’ve raised over $20K in donations, which has helped support purchasing furniture for their second homeless house and launching their Youth Clinical Services Department.
